Zinfandel Estate Iron Man-Stuffed Burgers with Zin Sauce
Pairing: 2009 Zinfandel, Estate Iron Man Vineyard
Ingredients: Serves 4
1.5 Pounds ground beef
1 1/2 Packages dry onion soup mix
1 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 Cups minced red onion
1.5 Cups chopped cooked bacon
1-2 Cups Chumeia Zinfandel
8 Ounces crumbled blue cheese
12 Ounces sliced mushrooms
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 Teaspoons minced garlic
4 Ounces cubed Gruyere chesse
4 Rustic bread rolls
Instructions:
- Preheat your grill and coat with olive oil.
- Mix these ingredients by hand: beef, soup mix, 1 cup onion, Worcestershire sauce and garlic. Shape 8 equal size patties. Place half Gruyere cheese and bacon in center of 4 patties, top with other 4 patties. Press and seal edges.
- Heat olive oil in skillet and saute 1 cup of onion until soft. Add mushrooms, garlic and stir for 4-5 minutes. Pour broth and Zinfandel and simmer reducing by half.
- Cook burgers to your liking. Top burgers with blue cheese and melt. Place burgers on rolls and top with the Zinfandel sauce.
